Election Results for NASSA Board of Directors
The election for the 2008 NASSA Board of Directors has been
completed.
Maureen Koch and Kim Nikolai have been re-elected and Scott
Bailey was
chosen to fill the spot left open by outgoing Board President
Gail Former.
The final tally was Scott Bailey 31 votes, Kim Nikolai 30
votes, and
Maureen Koch 28 votes. Bernard Hull received three write-in
votes.
Just 33 ballots were returned this year representing 5%
of eligible
voters. The low turnout was most likely due to the lack of
candidates on
the ballot.
As usual the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC)
counted the
ballots. To ensure that only eligible members were participating,
voters
were asked to put their flock numbers on their ballots. Those
numbers
were then given to NASSA News editor Sandy Powers for verification.
Sandy did not see the actual ballots so no NASSA member or
associate saw
how anyone voted. The flock numbers were checked against
information
sent by the NASSA Registry, which had been updated as of
October 10, 2007.
On behalf of the NASSA Board of Directors, I would like
to thank all of
you who took the time to vote and extend special thanks to
the three
members who agreed to run for election.
Faye Whitney
NASSA Secretary
